Rosemary Donovan 64, formerly of Community Way, Keene, NH, died June 27, 2013 at the Keene Center Genesis, Court Street, Keene, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Ipswich, Mass., January 21, 1949, the daughter of Patrick and Zelda (Hayes) Donovan.

A resident of Keene since 1963, she was a 1967 graduate of Keene High School and attended Mt. Ida College in Newton, MA.

Mrs. Donovan worked in retail sales with the former Bergeron Clothing Store of Keene, the Keene Mill End Store, True Necessities, Pocketful of Rye, and Clay's. While living in Brattleboro, VT, she obtained a license as a LNA. Rosemary did private duty, caring for several elderly people. Upon moving back to Keene, she worked in the Island Street Medical Office, making appointments, coding and billing.

She enjoyed sewing. She was also a great cook with baking her specialty. Her favorite pastime was that spent with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Donovan will be remembered as a personable, outgoing person who easily connected with people and could make you laugh. Everyone who knew her remarked on her strength and good humor, even in the face of adversity.

Rosemary loved animals. She was an active member of the ASPCA. She adopted a cat named Maggie. She owned her for at least 8 years. When her health began to decline, she knew that she needed to give her up. A friend adopted her when Rose could no longer care for her. She was happy for Maggie, but unbelievably sad for her own situation.

She is survived by two daughters, Sara E. MacKinnon of Brattleboro, VT, Lisa M. Hutchins of Adams, MA; seven grandchildren, Nakia Adams, Olivia Gonzalez, Isaac Gonzales, Dustin Hutchins, Ryan Will, Kyle Will, Abigail Will; and her special friends, Harry Heims of Hinsdale, NH, Georgianna Hamilton of Westmoreland, NH and Carol Augusta of Hartford, CT. She was predeceased by a daughter, Stephanie A. Will in 2012 and a brother, Peter Genawese, April 14, 1983.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 17th at 1:00 PM at 49 Community Way, Keene. Family and friends are welcome. Burial in the Village Cemetery, Spofford, will be private.

Flowers are happily accepted. If friends wish to donate instead, the family requests that donations be made in Rosemary Donovan's memory to The Susan B. , Vermont-New Hampshire Affiliate, PO Box 2496, Manchester Center, VT 05255, or to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, West Swanzey, NH 03446.

The Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH is assisting the family with the arrangements.
