Obituary

Ross E. Ritter, age 76, of Bloomington, died Wednesday evening at his residence. Born December 9, 1936 in Bloomington, he was the son of Kenneth E. and Edna P. (Hostetler) Ritter. He was retired from working in the stone mills and doing construction work. He was a member of the Springville Apostolic Church and loved spending time in Florida, going to flea markets, camping and meeting new people and spending time with old friends. Ross E. Ritter, age 76, of Bloomington, died Wednesday evening at his residence. Born December 9, 1936 in Bloomington, he was the son of Kenneth E. and Edna P. (Hostetler) Ritter. He was retired from working in the stone mills and doing construction work. He was a member of the Springville Apostolic Church and loved spending time in Florida, going to flea markets, camping and meeting new people and spending time with old friends. He had a personality that allowed him to be the type that never met a stranger. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his loving family; his wife of 56 years, Iris C. (Brault) Ritter, of Bloomington, one daughter, Lisa Rene Ritter, of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Travis James Jordan, of Bloomington and Kristina Marie Pendill, of Mooresville; one great-granddaughter, Paisley Marie Pendill, of Mooresville and two half-sisters, Violet Ritter, of Bloomington and Sandy Ritter, of Ellettsville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Rodney Ritter, his sister, Joyce Williams, half-brother, Tony Ritter, granddaughter, Tonya Rene Jordan and one great-grandson, Brody James Pendill.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Day Funeral Home with Pastors Doug Kelley and Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens where the Veterans Honor Guard will perform military graveside rites. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Brody James Pendill Scholarship Fund with checks made out to the Community Foundation of Morgan County, 56 North Main Street, Martinsville, IN 46151.
