Mr. Roy P. (Pat) Etheridge of Hampton, Georgia passed away August 8, 2014. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Royce C. Etheridge and Hazel Sockwell Etheridge, he was also preceded in death by a brother, David Etheridge. Mr. Etheridge attended Fulton High School in Atlanta and in 1960 he joined the US Navy and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan at the Naval Hospital. In 1963 he was stationed on the USS Talladega APA 208. Mr. Etheridge came home in 1964 and attended the University of Georgia Extension Branch at Southern Tech in Marietta for one year. Mr. Roy P. (Pat) Etheridge of Hampton, Georgia passed away August 8, 2014. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Royce C. Etheridge and Hazel Sockwell Etheridge, he was also preceded in death by a brother, David Etheridge. Mr. Etheridge attended Fulton High School in Atlanta and in 1960 he joined the US Navy and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan at the Naval Hospital. In 1963 he was stationed on the USS Talladega APA 208. Mr. Etheridge came home in 1964 and attended the University of Georgia Extension Branch at Southern Tech in Marietta for one year. In 1965 he went to work for his father at Safeway Machine Handling Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia where he became president and CEO. Mr. Etheridge retired in 1995 after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Hogue Etheridge in 2007. Survivors are his daughter Pamela Ann Barlow and husband Billy, and a granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Lopez; siblings, Mark Etheridge and Carla Etheridge Peek; 2 nephews and 2 nieces and a special friend, Barbara Harris. A graveside service for Mr. Etheridge will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014 – 1:00 PM at Eastlawn Memorial Park with Rev. David Fulton officiating.
