Mr. Gladen was born July 27, 1926, in Vandervoort, Ark., to William A. and Lydia Mae (Griffith) Gladen. He served in the US Navy during WWII, aboard the LCIG 450 and was honorably discharged on Jan. 21, 1946.

An avid sports fan, Roy loved the Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks. He also enjoyed bowling and played golf with many friends at Woodlawn Country Club, Denison Rod and Gun Club and Tanglewood.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Gladen; a daughter, Frances Caroline Kinney of Mesquite and a son, Roy L. (Butch) Gladen Jr. and wife Donna; grandchildren Jamie Gladen and wife Shannon of Sherman, Zach Gladen and fiance Holli Henderson of Sherman, Jeff Kinney and wife Norie of Frisco, Chris Kinney of Dallas, Ryan Kinney of Mesquite, and Bryan Wandel and wife Bridget of Durant, OK; nine great-grandchildren. I worked with Roy on and off for many years, and some of the best times in the car business was working with Roy. It was a good thing to get up and go to work knowing Roy was the boss. One memory that I will always have is he called me Orville and I called him Gladstone. Our sincere condolences to the Gladen family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Dearest Mary:
I am so sorry to hear of the passing away of your dear sweet Roy. You and he have been such wonderfully faithful members of First Presbyterian Church through the years. My mother, June O'Glee, always loved your friendship and your care and concern you paid to her when she was alive. You both were great supporters and encouragers. Terri Chapman
