Roy Bernard Schwartzkopf, 81, of Columbus died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at I.U. Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Columbus June 27, 1933, the son of Robert B. and Minnie Scheidt Schwartzkopf. He married Marilyn Kier in Cincinnati March 24, l956. She survives. He is also survived by son, Robert A. (Sarah Voelz) Schwartzkopf of Columbus; daughter, Susan J. Swartzkopf of Lake Worth, FL; brothers, Lynn (Katrina) Schwartzkopf of North Carolina and Paul (Ann) Schwartzkopf of New Haven, Missouri; grandchildren, Samual D. Schwartzkopf of Bloomington, Mary Marr (Matt) Belcher of Tampa, FL and Hallie...
Roy Bernard Schwartzkopf, 81, of Columbus died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at I.U. Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born in Columbus June 27, 1933, the son of Robert B. and Minnie Scheidt Schwartzkopf. He married Marilyn Kier in Cincinnati March 24, l956. She survives.

He is also survived by son, Robert A. (Sarah Voelz) Schwartzkopf of Columbus; daughter, Susan J. Swartzkopf of Lake Worth, FL; brothers, Lynn (Katrina) Schwartzkopf of North Carolina and Paul (Ann) Schwartzkopf of New Haven, Missouri; grandchildren, Samual D. Schwartzkopf of Bloomington, Mary Marr (Matt) Belcher of Tampa, FL and Hallie Schwartzkopf of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois I. Lohmeyer; brother, George Schwartzkopf.

Mr. Schwartzkopf was a graduate of Purdue University, a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He retired from Cosco as V.P. of Manufacturing after 40 years' service. After retirement he founded Midwest Tube Mill.

He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir for 50 years. He served as chairman of the congregation, Chairman of the Architectural Committee, Board of Elders, Stephen Ministry and St. Peters Foundation. He was active in Jaycees, Junior Achievement, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Columbus Rotary Club. He served in the U.S. Army. Roy truly loved baseball; he played in high school, Columbus Merchants team and on the Army team.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11a.m. Saturday at St Peters Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark R. Tieke officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church. Inurnment will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery.


Arrangements were by Hathaway~Myers Chapel on Pearl Street.
