Advance- Roy McRee Spratt, Lt Colonel, U.S. Air Force (retired) died on August 1, 2013. Roy was born June 13, 1920 to Edna G. & Frank K. Spratt in Greenville, S.C. Roy was a Southern Gentleman with a clever sense of humor and so proud of his service to his country. He graduated from Presbyterian college in 1941 and went into the Army in 1942, later transferring to the US Air Force where he was a Bomber/Navigator. He was awarded 13 Asiatic-Pacific battle stars, and one Air Medal with four clusters and the Phillipine Liberation Medal with two battle stars. Advance- Roy McRee Spratt, Lt Colonel, U.S. Air Force (retired) died on August 1, 2013. Roy was born June 13, 1920 to Edna G. & Frank K. Spratt in Greenville, S.C. Roy was a Southern Gentleman with a clever sense of humor and so proud of his service to his country.

He graduated from Presbyterian college in 1941 and went into the Army in 1942, later transferring to the US Air Force where he was a Bomber/Navigator. He was awarded 13 Asiatic-Pacific battle stars, and one Air Medal with four clusters and the Phillipine Liberation Medal with two battle stars. He retired in 1964 from the 100th Bomb Wing at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. He started Spratt Construction & Real Estate Company in 1965 in Chapel Hill and built, sold and renovated many homes for over twenty five years.

Roy was a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church and an associate member of Holden Beach Chapel and sang in both choirs. He played saxophone with the Fidgety Feet Dixieland Band in Chapel Hill for over 20 Years and was also an avid bridge player.

Roy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Roberta Drew Spratt; son, Frank K. Spratt III of Oregon; daughters, Louann Spratt Doran of Chapel Hill, Karen Spratt Jones of Winston-Salem and Melissa Spratt Waldron & husband Tom of Greensboro; grandchildren, Courtney Doran, Abigail and Natalie Waldron, and Sam Spratt; great granchildren, Gavin and Chloe Congleton; sister-in-law, Grace Baud of Farmington, NH; and ten nieces and nephews and their spouses. Roy was predeceased by his son, Robert McRee Spratt; grandson, Robert Edmond Doran, Jr.; brothers, Frank and wife Florence; Edward and wife Evelyn; and sister, Ann and husband James Wilson.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 5 at 11:00 AM at Clemmons Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. William Hoyle. The family will receive guests following the service in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the church, 3930 Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC 27012 or a charity of your choice.
