Ruby E. Ardoin, 91, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, in a local hospital.
She was a native of Rosine, Kentucky and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 65 years. Ruby enjoyed gardening, animals, playing bingo, and especially enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church in Sulphur. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Survivors include one son, Fred Ardoin, Jr. and wife, Gloria of Sulphur; two daughters, Rita Carrier and husband, Roger of Moss Bluff, and Marie McBride and husband, Roy of Sulphur; 10 grandchildren, Dana Forrest, Jodie Reda, Cindy Williams, Rachel Broussard, Rita Sonnier, Kevin Ardoin, Gerri McCallister, Joseph Cusimano, Charles McBride, and Brandy Marti; 21 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ardoin, Sr; great-granddaughter, Anna Forrest; and great-great-granddaughter, Camille White.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Winiarski will officiate. Pallbearers will be Fred Ardoin, Jr, Kevin Ardoin, Kevin McCallister, Chris Lincoln, Charles McBride, Steven Marti, Calvin White, Aymond Forrest, and Brent Sonnier. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. today with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and from 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
