Ruby Bass Carwile, 89, of Concord, entered Heaven, Friday, August 8, 2014, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Gordon Carwile, the "love of her life." Born February 10, 1925, in Gladys, she was the daughter of the late William James Bass and the late Rosa Tuck Bass.
Ruby was a retired seamstress for Madison Garment Company and she was a member of Early's Chapel.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her son, Edwin Gordon Carwile; seven brothers and sisters; and one great-granddaughter, Sydney Allison Carwile.
Ruby is survived by her grandson, Shane Dell Carwile and his wife Heather of Concord; one great-grandson, Spencer Hogan Carwile one sister, Carrie Booth of Concord; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion united Methodist Church Cemetery in Rustburg.
The family will receive friends, 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 11, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
