Eulogy to Rufino Fiorante

Our conversation with you will continue till we meet again…
We love and miss you Dad…

It's with broken hearts we come together today to say our goodbye to Rufino Fiorante, a man who meant and still means so much to so many of us.
He is son, brother, loving husband to Dina, father to Mike, Laura and Marco (me), father-in-law to Helen and grandfather, uncle and friend, in a lovingly
large family.

My father was a man a few words with a large heart, just like his brothers. I will try to honour this and make this short;

He loved his garden and he was very meticulous. So much so that we used a level to make sure that the tomato poles were straight enough. He took so much care when gathering and preparing the tomato seeds for the upcoming planting, by my mother of course…ma you did so much for dad, not just in the garden but in life…you were a good wife to him, and he knew it and loved you so much.

He loved doing the wine with his brothers, it always reminded me of when we were young and everyone would gather together to do the wine at Nana and Nono's house on Strathnairn.

It was always great to see all the brothers and sisters together when it was time to do the tomatoes, and to see how the well everyone worked together and just how much they enjoyed being together.

He was so happy to get together last few summers at the cottage to see at the annual brothers and sisters bbq, it was one of the few reasons he allowed us to drag him up north, especially because Pete was there, how beautiful it was to see the happiness they all shared. Family was everything to him and he was and still is surrounded by that love. Mike and Laura, we did good by him, we made him proud and he loved us.

His grand children, Johnny, Julian, Alexandrea, Jessie and Megan always brought a smile to his face and filled the house with youthful energy.
He was always happy to see his nieces and nephews and saw them as an extension of his own family, and cared and wanted the best for them just as he did is own children.

Rufino, Dad, you worked so hard all your life, and continued to work even harder when you got sick, we are thankful we didn't loose you 16 years ago and continued to fight all these years and I know it was difficult for you and you were suffering. You were tired and choose to leave us when you did, way too sudden for all of us, but you and god made the choice to go…..

We will hold you deep in our hearts, and we will hold the memories of you even tighter, and when we see you in a thought or a dream, which will bring with it the weight of sadness of missing you so much, my hope for all of us is that one day that thought and memory will bring a smile to our faces, for we have been blessed to have known you and shared our lives with you…. we love you and miss you, travel well and rest, I hope your moving and breathing easier where you are, I know you will be met with great love from our loved ones who passed before you.

"Daddy, I miss you so much. I feel a void in my heart that can't be filled. All I have left are beautiful memories of you that I will cherish even more, I..."
