RUSSEL VAUGHN RADEBAUGH, 84, of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, April 18, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Born March 24, 1929, in Fort Wayne, He was a son of Russel and Mae Radebaugh. He married Margaret J. Smith on March 31, 1956; she survives. Russel was a long time resident of Indianapolis where he lived for 40 years since leaving his childhood home of Fort Wayne at the the age of 18. He graduated from North Side High School in 1947. He attended Purdue University for three years before going into the Army. Russel was an Army Sgt. and a Korean War veteran serving from February of 1951 to February of 1953 in the 369th Engineer Amphibious Support Regiment Company E. He was stationed at Fort Worden, Wash., Fort Flagler, Wash. and Camp Desert Rock, Nev., where he helped build and maintain for the Tumbler Snapper Atomic Tests. Russel worked in Indianapolis for Marrot Shoe Company before starting his career in the Insurance business in 1957. In 1990, he moved back to Fort Wayne, where he continued his Insurance business and was still working up until the time of his death. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Carol L. Beeler and David H. Beeler of Spokane, Wash.; one granddaughter, Kylie; two grandsons, Brett and Blake; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lew and Ann Allendorph; one niece, Sharon Roberts; one nephew, Dave Allendorph; and several cousins. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with Pastor Steven Roper officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, Parkview Home Health & Hospice or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
