Russell W. Ramsey, age 55 of Ogdensburg and formerly of Lisbon, passed away early Sunday morning (July 21, 2013) at the Claxton Hepburn Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. As per his wishes, funeral services will be held privately for his family. Arrangements are under the care of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Among his survivors are his wife Martha "Marty" Ramsey; two daughters Christa & Shawna Ramsey of TX; a brother David Ramsey & his wife Lisa of Buffalo; a sister Dawn Giannino of Florida; three step children William Wallace of Emeryville CA, Patti Murray & her husband David of Ogdensburg, Lorie Lund & her husband Bruce of Colchester, CT; 11 step-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Russ was born on November 12, 1957 in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of the late Walter R. & Leona J. (Alguire) Ramsey. He graduated from Lisbon High School and entered the United States Marine Corps in 1978 until 1990 when he received his honorable discharge and held the rank of Sergeant. In 1993, he continued the dedication to his country and joined the Army National Guard where he was active until 2001.
A previous marriage ended, and in 1995 he then married Martha (Kelley). He was employed at Acco Manufacturing for many years and then transferred employment to Lowes in Ogdensburg, where he worked until his declining health.
Russ was a member of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge and was an avid sportsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
