Ruth Elaine Smith, daughter of the late Tom R and Ruth Elizabeth Turner, was born on October 11, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from Landon High School. Elaine passed on March 11, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville.
Elaine married James Raymond Smith in 1967. They were later blessed with two sons. James and Elaine made a beautiful life in Jacksonville where she worked as an office manager and assisted James with his tree business. Elaine was also blessed with three grandchildren whom she loved more than life itself. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and Nana.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband James R. Smith Sr., her sons; James R. Smith Jr. (St. Augustine), and Darron M. Smith (Jacksonville), daughter in law; Kristi C. Smith (St. Augustine), grandchildren; Carson L. Smith, Ruby A. Smith, E. Rose Smith, and siblings; Tom R. Turner, Donna W. Holt, Kevin D. Turner, Marsha A. Phillips, and Susan G. Turner.
Elaine was a strong, dynamic woman who battled cancer for several years. She is finally restored to full glory at the side of our Lord and Savior. She will forever live in the hearts of those who loved her.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Committal Service will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32218
