Ruth Herber Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 23, 2016.

Ruth Irene Wuthrich Herber, at age 80, joined her heavenly father on November 23, 2016. Her passing left her family and friends in sorrow at her departure, but rejoicing that she is free from her pain and suffering, and back in the arms of her loving parents and siblings.

Ruth was born on January 26, 1936 to William and Maria Goetz Wuthrich in Taylor, Texas. She grew up in the community of Wuthrich Hill in Taylor, and was an active member of the Wuthrich Hill Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where her love and faith in God began. Her family's roots go deep with the church as her grandparents were among the founding members of the church and donated the land where the church is located. As a child she and her cousins followed the truck from New Bern to Wuthrich Hill when the two churches joined in 1947 and the New Bern church was moved to its current location.

Ruth graduated from Thrall High School in 1954 where she was a drum majorette, and was also active in basketball and her favorite sport of volleyball. She was also voted "Most Favorite Female Student" her senior year.

After high school Ruth attended Nixon-Clay Business College and became an expert in short hand and typing which served her throughout her life. She began her career at Texas Education Agency, and later was a secretary for Texas Representative Jack Blanton for several sessions. Though primarily a stay-at home mother, she continued to work for various other organizations in Austin.

She met her husband of over 60 years, Luther Herber, in Thrall Texas and they married on New Year's Eve 1955. Her husband was devoted to her and together they raised their family with love and faith in God. Their twin sons, Kevin and Keith, arrived first in 1959 and then their little girl, Kimberley Dawn, in 1961. She was also deeply devoted to her grandchildren, Kasey, Lauren, Shelby, Tyler and William, and was active in their upbringing.

Ruth continued playing volleyball for many years and passed the love of the sport to her daughter. She was also active in her son's lives with activities such as Boy Scouts and FFA. Then began her passion for crafting, as she taught and passed the pleasures of those skills to her daughters-in-law and granddaughters. She was active in her church and continued to rely on her faith as her body grew weaker.

She is survived by her husband as well as her children and their spouses. Kevin and wife Rena Cage Herber, Keith and wife Kim Eyler Herber, Kim and husband Dr. Thomas Wicheta. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Herbert and Gerhardt Wuthrich and sister Dorothy Wuthrich Aderhold.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016, at the Wuthrich Hill Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Taylor, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the church in her memory. Arrangements under the direction of Condra Funeral Home, Taylor, Tx.
