RUTH MARIE (HESS) DEITSCH, 82, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. The daughter of the late George and Margaret (Andres) Hess, Ruth was born September 27, 1934 in New Albany. She retired from the Marriott Corporation in 1991 was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and the church quilting club, and was very active in the LIFT Group. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted T. Deitsch, Sr.; siblings, Carl Hess, Jayne Neidiffer, Rita Neafus, Lucille Riall, and Dorothy Patton.
Survivors include her children, Ted T. Deitsch, Jr. (Debbie), Andy Deitsch (Dena), Peggy Jenkins (Bill), and Becky Lenz (Donnie); sisters, Mary Loftus and Betty Hutchinson; grandchildren, Nicole (Jeremy), Tara (Kevin), B.J. (Heather), Thomas (Tiffany), Emily (Chris), Ryan, Aaron, and Stephanie; great grandchildren, Zada, Phoenix, Lucy, Cole, Harper, and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Wednesday and after 10:00 am Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. Her Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm Thursday at St. Mary of the Knobs Chapel followed by private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Ruth was a gentle, loving lady; she will be dearly missed but her spirit and memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May we all find comfort in knowing she is resting, at peace in God's arms.
