Being a Mom was plenty for surviving sons Michael Glaros and his wife, Nyda, Bill Glaros and his wife, Joanne, Ed Blanton and his wife, Margaret, and daughter Susie Cox and her husband, Dale. Ruth is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, by her brother Irvin Petersen, by four sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ruth was born in Danevang, TX, the fifth of eight children of Axel and Signe. The Petersen Family moved to Palacios where they were raised and schooled, and where she and her sisters worked at the family confectionery. Ruth married John Glaros in 1945 and they lived in Palacios, Weslaco, and then Houston. She was active, very active, raising her sons, enjoying bridge, and cooking and caring for her family and friends.
In 1965, Ruth married E. B. Blanton and his wonderful family. They were the perfect grandparents, attending every event possible until E.B. passed away. Ruth spent the rest of her life carrying on that tradition. That is what Mom did best, she loved people and cared for them. We will love you forever.
