Obituary

Ruth Marie Johnstone, 94 years old, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Ruth was born in rural Shafer on the family farm. She attended Kelliher High School (Blackduck, MN), graduating in 1935. Ruth attended two years of nursing training and worked as a nurses' assistant until WWII. During WWII, she worked as a welder at the shipyards in Louisville and Riverside (Duluth). She had met her husband, Joseph prior to WWII and was married on Sept. 14, 1946 until Joe's death in 1994. Ruth Marie Johnstone, 94 years old, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Ruth was born in rural Shafer on the family farm. She attended Kelliher High School (Blackduck, MN), graduating in 1935. Ruth attended two years of nursing training and worked as a nurses' assistant until WWII. During WWII, she worked as a welder at the shipyards in Louisville and Riverside (Duluth). She had met her husband, Joseph prior to WWII and was married on Sept. 14, 1946 until Joe's death in 1994. They enjoyed 48 years together. Ruth enjoyed going to Las Vegas to gamble and also spent time in California. She enjoyed painting, rosemaling, knitting, cooking and keeping up her home. She was formerly a Sunday school teacher and worked in the nursery at church. Ruth also worked as a nurses' aide at Lakehaven for two years and therapy aide at Miller Dwan. She loved to watch sports and had fun playing the stock market. She loved her dog "Arfy".

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents; three sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by her brother, Roger and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank St. Eligius for the wonderful care they gave Ruth.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from noon until the 1pm service at Westminster Presbyterian Church 4441 Grand Avenue. Please leave a memory of Ruth or words of support at www.bellbrothersfuneralhome.com
