ORLEANS – Ruth Pia Moling, of Orleans, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2013. She was born September 30, 1924 in New York City.
At the age of 3 Ruth was sent to Hamburg, Germany to be raised by her mother's sister and her husband. In 1949 she returned to the U.S. where she became a dental technician. In the 1950's she opened a dog grooming business in Bronxville, NY which specialized in poodles. Ruth met her husband Charles Bertrand Moling while grooming his show dogs.
Ruth moved to Cape Cod in 1974 and has lived on the Cape since. Walks on Nauset Beach, flowers, nature, and her poodles were her passions. Ruth was also extremely proud of her more than 30 years of sobriety.
A memorial visitation will be from 2p-4p at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans on Saturday, September 28.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Animal Rescue League.

My farther Capt'n Uli Pruesse of Hamburg and Orleans, and Ruth were good friends for many years until he passed away. A special bond was built between both being from Hamburg and loving Cape Cod and Germany. I remember Ruth best being a wonderful member of our 'Stammtisch' at the Wheelhaus Café and being friendly with my family for the past 20 years. Loving hot tea and German cake with whip cream! I thought of you, Ruth, so much and please say Hello to the Capt'n! I know how much his friendship meant to you! Rest well und Auf Wiedersehen!!!

Ruth was a complex and courageous woman. I have many memories of Ruth from the over thirty years that I have known her. She often reached out to me when I would drift away from meetings in the early years; sometimes gently sometimes not so much. She read to me from the Daily Word everynight before I went to bed when my husband was dying. She also could aggravate me in way that few could match. May she never be cold again.

What a special friend. she will ALWAYS remain in our hearts and memory. She was so unique! Thanks for all the wonderful times we shared together. She is missed so much already. Can't imagine not going to visit her, where we were always welcomed with open arms and a reprimand for not coming more often.
