Zenger, Ruth Fenton: Died 19 December 2015 on the 10th anniversary of the death of her husband and best friend Herbert Alan Zenger of Portland, Oregon. Ruth was born 3 January 1934 in Edam, Saskatchewan to parents Fenton and Ceridwen Bellamy of Liverpool, England. Survived by children David, Michael and Wendy and 5 grandchildren.

Ruth earned a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco and a Masters of Nursing from the University of Calgary. At age three, when she told her mother that she was going to be a nurse, Ruth set her career on a course. She mostly worked as a Public Health Nurse (focusing on newborns), and also as a Nursing Instructor, Executive Director of VON (Alberta) and a pediatric hospital nurse.

Ruth was a long-time member of the Anglican Church and always treasured singing in the choirs of the many different parishes she and Herb belonged to. She was focused on and devoted to causes of social justice and care for the environment and participated in both church and community causes across Canada in order to improve the world. She was devoted to the development of The Sorrento Centre, volunteering there for many years.

A memorial service will take place at St. George Anglican Church, Cadboro Bay at 2pm on 16 January 2016 . Distribution of ashes will be at The Sorrento Center Memorial Garden at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth and the family suggest donations may be directed to The Sorrento Centre (Sorrento, BC), St Georges Church or to your local Hospice.

The family deeply appreciates the care provided to Ruth by the gentle and skilled doctors and nurses of the Royal Jubilee Hospital and BC Cancer Centre, the helpful and supportive nurses of Victoria Community Care and the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff of the Victoria Hospice.
