SANDY ANDERSEN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 8, 2011.

Sandy Cecelia Andersen, 80, left this world on Feb. 4, 2011. She suffered from a debilitating disease and moved from Florida to Longmont, Colorado in 2008, to be in the care of her daughter. She was born June 15, 1930, in Wayne County, Pennsylvania to Monty Brockett and Frances Woldy, both deceased. She had three sisters and one brother all deceased. She was married in 1950 to the late Albert R. Andersen (1976) of Hensonville, New York, where she lived until retiring to Port Richey, Florida in 1989. She was employed by AT&T Bell Telephone in Windham, New York, as a switchboard operator during the days of party lines and three digit telephone numbers. Mrs. Andersen is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Gross of Niwot, Colorado and son Albert Andersen III of South English, Iowa; three grandsons: Jasen Andersen of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Albert Andersen IV of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Matthew Gross of Niwot, Colorado; and two great grandsons: Ty Andersen of Wheat Ridge, Colorado and Albert Andersen V, of Williamsburg, Iowa. Another daughter, Pamela Andersen of Lone Tree, Iowa predeceased her in 1988. She will be interred in the family burial ground in Ashland, New York. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her honor to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated. Mrs. Andersen will be remembered for her strength, independence and courage. She had the "gift of gab" and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. www.cristmortuary.com

Sandy was my neighbor in Port Richey Fl. She loved to go to Sam's Club and always bought big fresh floral arrangements and candy and nuts.
She loved to go to IHop and to a fruit market that sold soft ice cream. She enjoyed her sweets.
She enjoyed the beach and working in her yard.
I missed her when she moved but she needed to be close to family as her health declined. She was independent and resisted moving until she recognized that she needed help. She was strong and self reliant it was difficult for her to give up her independence. It was a blessing that she had a family to provide help when the need persentid itself.
She is a peace now and no longer is burdendeed by a body that no longer could support her strong will.
She often spoke of her grand children and was proud of her family. I am greatful to have known her.

I have many great memories of Aunt Sandy. Probably one of the most prominent was my constant amazement that she could wear white clothes and pump gas all day and NEVER get dirty! We also had many great shopping trips to the mall in Albany and then eating at Valley's when we were shopped out. Love you Aunt Sandy!
