Sub let me read his copy of Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle while I was stranded in his families basement during the 1979 Mississauga Train derailment. I will always remember he and his family's kindness and that book.

Dear Anna,

As your neighbour for over 30 years, I wanted you to know how sorry I am to hear of Sam's passing. It was too soon. Sam was such a great guy! He always had time to chat with me, or waved & smiled at me when he was sitting on the porch whenever I came home from school. I felt he had a very kind heart, and he was a person you could be friends for life. I shall miss him very much, as he was someone that I could be friends with, and rely upon for advice whenever I was feeling down. My thoughts & prayers to you and your family for your loss.

Sincerely,
Paul Je

Ginger (our dog)loved Sam too and we know he loved her as well. Anthony our son is deeply saddened, as we all are. May he rest in peace.

As great friends do, we played a lot of tennis and billiards. We consume a lot of Rum and food, with a great deal of laughter. Talking business was always the first thing we would do. I am going to miss these times I had with you Sam. I'm sure most of your other friends will too.
Here's to 30 years of knowing you,
Cecil Jeffers

Peter + June Tarkalas

It is with infinite sadness that we got the news that our dear friend Sabatino has
passed away. We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate
family for their loss. At the same time, even though we all share in your grief, we
have a lot to cherish in his memory. He was a wonderful, thoughtful, kind and loyal
friend to all of us. To the guys (Nino, Roman, Zenon, Bob T, Bob R, Peter K and myself) it is a testament to the quality of his character that we have remained friends all these years. 48 years for myself and longer with some of the others. And that in itself is a very rare and special achievement.
We grew up together and we grew older together, still staying in touch, enjoying
and sharing untold good times, trips, lunches, dinners, birthdays and get togethers. He became friends with all our wives and children and all of us can honestly say that we feel something has been taken away from us. We have to console ourselves with the happiness that his friendship gave to all of us. And I know he
is up there, smiling down on us and getting ready for a future poker game that we will eventually share and when we can say " Hey. Who hasn't anted …Sam?"
May you rest in peace buddy. Peter and June Tarkalas
