Sabi Thomas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2014.

Sabi Thomas was born to the late Regi and Lissy Thomas on August 29, 1991 in Carrollton, Texas.
Within a year and half, Sabi was a big brother to Shaina, who he shared a deep love and bond with
throughout his life. While Sabi was still young, Reji was diagnosed with colon cancer and was
being treated till he was called to his heavenly father in December 1993. During Sabi's early years,
Regi and Lissy came to know the love of Jesus Christ and the saving grace of their heavenly father.
They later witnessed their savior through water baptism in 1993 and joined in the membership of
Metro Church of God.
Sabi grew up in the Carrollton school system, going to Davis Elementary, Blalack Middle school,
and graduated from Creekview High school in 2009. He went on to Texas Women's University for
nursing but found that it was not the career path for him. He later completed his studies and
certification in sterile processing and began employment at UT Southwestern. Although he had
many jobs throughout his life, it was this job and position that he finally found to provide him the
career track he was searching. He had many professional aspirations for his life and they all
included taking care of his mom, grandmother (ammachi), and his sister.
Hven at his young age, he took the responsibility of financially contributing to the needs of the
family and even supported his sister by paying for her college tuition over the last few years. It was
Sabis' strong desire to see Shaina graduate with a college degree and always encouraged her in this.
This desire will forever be etched in Shaina's mind to always make her family proud in what she
does.
Sabi was very close to his family, friends and his dog, Julie. He loved everyone that he was around
and it was evident in how his smile would light up any room with laughter and a presence that was
filled with love for others. Although many may say that he was shy kid, once he warms up to
someone, he is the funniest comedian you would have ever met. He found j joy in hearing the
laughter of others.
God granted us Sabi's young years to enjoy his humor and to experience his love and on Tuesday,
September 16"', at the age of 23, He took back his son for the rest of eternity. Although there is
emptiness, pain, confusion, and maybe even anger that his death came at such a young age, we live
on with the memories we have of Sabi's life. He will live in our memories and stories that will
include him. It is our prayer that in the days to come, each of us find opportunities to share
memories and stories of Sabi offering us peace and understanding through this tough time.
Our family will never be the same, but we will always cherish the memories of our times with him.
He leaves behind many friends and family members that were very dear to him. He is survived by
his grandparents, mother, sister who will forever have his face and voice imprinted in their hearts.
We are comforted during this difficult time in the words of our Savior Jesus, who said, John 14:1-
4 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are
many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And i f I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may
be also. And you know the way to where I am going."
