I am Sadie's "train mate" having met her as a child some 61 years ago on the IRT at the Allerton Avenue station as my mother was taking me to the kids' bus drop off for summer camp. Sadie was on that train with Eugene's Mom and BOOM! all of a sudden, I had a lifelong friend. (I just forwarded to Eugene a copy of the very first letter I received from Sadie at summer camp on beautiful little girl stationery in 1955 . . . a treasure! And it came to me "special delivery" too!)
As for us all, it was - and REMAINS - our tremendous privilege to have had Sadie as a lifelong friend, mentor, cheerleader, supporter, good listener, fan and for me, her always loving "train mate" for almost all of my life. I could go on for hours . . but the sum total is that she was a SUPER person, of great faith, gentle, astute and ever kind, and will be much, much missed.
With love to Eugene and Sadie's many beloveds of friends and family. Sadie's Train mate: Fran
