Salvador Vasquez Sr. passed away on July 8, 2011 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on June 27, 1944 in Portland, Texas. He was the son of Jose M. Vasquez and Manuela (Mamie) Vasquez. Salvador graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country for 23 years. He also earned his degree in accounting and engineering. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, Panama Canal Zone, and Saudi Arabia. Salvador Vasquez Sr. passed away on July 8, 2011 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on June 27, 1944 in Portland, Texas. He was the son of Jose M. Vasquez and Manuela (Mamie) Vasquez.

Salvador graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country for 23 years. He also earned his degree in accounting and engineering. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, Panama Canal Zone, and Saudi Arabia. After his military retirement in April 1987, he went to work for Motorola in Austin, Texas. In 1989 he moved himself and his family to Corpus Christi, Texas and he started working at CCAD. After 19 years with CCAD he retired in June 2006. He served his country 42 years with the government. His pride and joy was being with friends and family. He loved to barbeque and watch the Dallas Cowboys.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose M. Vasquez and Manuela Vasquez; brothers, Jose Angel Vasquez, Fernando Vasquez, Daniel Vasquez, and Ernest Vasquez.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eva Vasquez; daughter, Annette Arevalo; son, Salvador Vasquez Jr.; daughter, Denise (Alfredo) Vega; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Arevalo, Michael Vasquez, Aaron Vega, Adrian Vega, Salvador Vasquez III, Derick Vasquez, Joel Vasquez, and Ismael Vasquez; one great-grandson, Jordan Vasquez; two sisters, Mercy Stone and Alice Arismendez and brother, Johnny Vasquez. He had numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, July 11, 2011 at St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
