Obituary

Samuel W. Creek Jr., 90, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in his home. He was the son of the late Samuel W. and Sara (Parker) Creek Sr.; and was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Creek, and his sister, Elizabeth Worthy. He was a retired employee from the New Cumberland Army Depot, and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II; and was recipient of the Purple Heart and 2 bronze stars. He attended the Riverside United Methodist Church, was a member of the American Legion Post 1001, NARFE Chapter 102, DAV Chapter 50, the Purple Heart Chapter 11, and a life member of the Middletown Moose Lodge 410. Samuel W. Creek Jr., 90, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in his home. He was the son of the late Samuel W. and Sara (Parker) Creek Sr.; and was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Creek, and his sister, Elizabeth Worthy.
He was a retired employee from the New Cumberland Army Depot, and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II; and was recipient of the Purple Heart and 2 bronze stars.
He attended the Riverside United Methodist Church, was a member of the American Legion Post 1001, NARFE Chapter 102, DAV Chapter 50, the Purple Heart Chapter 11, and a life member of the Middletown Moose Lodge 410.
He was an avid bowler, bowling in the Harrisburg Men's League, and the Lower Paxton Golden Age Bowling League.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Dorothy J. Creek; daughter, Donna M. Hostler, husband, Bernard, of Spruce Creek; son, Samuel W. Creek III, wife, Donna, of Rockford, IL; 7 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 16, 2013, in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. Private burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 12:00 PM Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Pa., 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, 17110.
