Mr. Samuel Dwight Tomlin, 72, of 306 Tomlin Rd. Harmony, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on September 22, 1940, he was a son of the late Sam Tomlin and Dade Welborn Tomlin. He was retired from the textile industry and attended Countryside Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, his volunteer work with the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department for over 55 years, outdoor activities especially including hunting and raising animals particularly donkeys and dogs. Mr. Samuel Dwight Tomlin, 72, of 306 Tomlin Rd. Harmony, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on September 22, 1940, he was a son of the late Sam Tomlin and Dade Welborn Tomlin. He was retired from the textile industry and attended Countryside Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, his volunteer work with the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department for over 55 years, outdoor activities especially including hunting and raising animals particularly donkeys and dogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a sister, Bobby Jane Elledge.
Survivors include a son, David Tomlin and his wife, Kristen of Harmony, a daughter Cynthia McCulloh of Woodleaf, grandchildren: Megan Cannon (T.J.), Ryan McCulloh and Eli Tomlin and a great grandchild, Zoey Cannon. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert Tomlin and Henry Tomlin (Clara) all of Harmony.
Services celebrating Mr. Tomlin's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Ernest M. Troutman Memorial Chapel of the Reavis Funeral Home Of Harmony with Rev. Randy Goodin and Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Reavis, Wayne Smith, Randy Goble, Tim Steele, Ryan McCulloh and David Lee Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department. The family will be assembled at the residence of his son, David at 280 Tomlin Rd. and will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Reavis Funeral Home Of Harmony.

Memorials may be give in lieu of flowers to: the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department 3351 Harmony Hwy., Harmony, N.C. 28634 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Of Iredell County 2347 Simonton Rd. Statesville, N.C. 28625. Reavis Funeral Home Of Harmony is entrusted with the arrangements.
