Obituary

Samuel Rodger Watts, 54, of Florida City, FL passed away unexpectedly September 8. Born February 21, 1959, in Iowa City, IA, he was the son of Russell D. and Rosemary M. Watts of Key West. Sam was a 1977 graduate of Glenbard East High School, Lombard, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1982, earning dual degrees in Agriculture Engineering and Agricultural Science. Sam was a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, and was awarded a 25-year membership plaque at their 2012 annual conference. Samuel Rodger Watts, 54, of Florida City, FL passed away unexpectedly September 8. Born February 21, 1959, in Iowa City, IA, he was the son of Russell D. and Rosemary M. Watts of Key West.

Sam was a 1977 graduate of Glenbard East High School, Lombard, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1982, earning dual degrees in Agriculture Engineering and Agricultural Science. Sam was a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, and was awarded a 25-year membership plaque at their 2012 annual conference.

Sam was employed as Chief Agricultural Engineer at B&K Installations, Homestead, for 30 years, engineering projects for zoos, schools, and industry. His work helped create greenhouses, botanical gardens, aquaculture structures, water management operations, and educational facilities located worldwide.

Surviving, in addition to Sam's parents, are a sister Robin E. Larsen of Omaha, NE; brothers: Joseph A. Watts of Florida City and Russell N. Watts (Ellen) of Zion, IL; nieces and nephews; a companion: Olwyn B. Beatty of Minersville, PA; his furry buddy Bandita; and many dear friends and clients.

Branam Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial Service will be held from 3:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday, September 18, with a Religious Service at 6:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam's memory may be sent to The Humane Society of Greater Miami. 16101 West Dixie Hwy, North Miami Beach, FL 33160.
