Sara Johnson Kinney, age 101, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 12, 2017. Mrs. Kinney is survived by her faithful, selfless daughters, Sally (Julian) McDonald and Betsy Kinney; two grandchildren, Laura (USAF Ret. COL Eric) Beene and Howard (Nancy) McDonald; four grandchildren, Patrick Beene, Michael Beene, Blair Thomas, and Lauren Patterson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 67 years, Howard Kinney who died at 98 in 2008. Mrs. Kinney was a member of Capitol Heights United Methodist Church, the Garden Club, and the Exchangettes, a community service organization associated with The Exchange Club. She led a long and full life. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 10:00 AM, at Leak Memory Chapel with Rev. Stephan Turnipseed officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 9:00 am. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made in Mrs. Kinney's memory to The Montgomery Area Council on Aging, MACOA, 115 East Jefferson Street, Montgomery, AL 36104, (334) 354-3935, as her wish was to provide help for other seniors in her honor.
