Scott Barber Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 24, 2013.

Scott A. Barber, 44, of Oxford, is at rest in the arms of his Savior, Tuesday, April 23, 2013.
Born in Sidney in April of 1969, Scott was the son of Bruce L. and Elisabeth R. VanDemark Barber. He attended the Sidney schools, graduating with the class of l989 and, in 1990, entered the U. S. Air Force to serve his country until his honorable discharge in 1994. Following his military service, Scott lived and worked for a time in Texas, returning to the Chenango County area in 2003. Currently employed by the Raymond Corporation of Greene, he had also worked for Faber's in Oxford and for Lowe's. Scott was basically a family-oriented fellow who would always let you know what he was thinking. He adored being outdoors, camping with just a tent, sleeping on the ground and roughing it.
On March 11, 2011, in Norwich, Scott married Tracy Vroman Barber, who survives. Also surviving are his parents, Bruce and Elisabeth Barber of Norwich; his children, Elisabeth A. and Tina Noelle Barber, both of Texas; and his step-children: Fred Miller of Afton and Justin and Mickala Miller of Oxford; his sisters, Susan Starr and husband Ian of Raleigh, NC, and Rosalie "Lori" Sayles and husband Jason of Triangle; his brother, Allan T. Barber of Lynchburg, VA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Scott's life will be held on Friday, April 26, at 6 p.m. from the Calvary Baptist Church of Norwich. Pastor Brian Conover will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the Calvary Baptist Church on Friday from 5-6 p.m.
Arrangements are by the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home.
