My deepest condolences to the Calderone family. I knew Mike in the 1970s and early 80s before I moved from Michigan. We spent many a companionable hour talking over coffee at Denny's, along with a group of other regulars. I also used to hang out at a stable where Mike worked and watch him work with the horses. Sometimes he let me help out (I was a young horse nut) by walking horses down after a workout. He was one of the most interesting, smart, kind, and gentle people I have ever known, and I have thought of him so many times over the years. I am so sorry to learn of his passing but feel so privileged to have known him. He had a dry and playful sense of humor, and I can see the laughter in his eyes as if it was yesterday. RIP, old friend. I would like to share a couple of pictures. They were taken by a mutual friend--it must have been around 1979 or '80.

I am sorry Nina left us. I have not seen him in a few years, but I will always remember him as a very humble and very intelligent person. I vividly remember enjoying some conversations with him. He treated me as an equal even when I was younger. I am sorry I could not make the memorial service. I share your sorrow.
With love

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing - he was a fabulous horse trainer. Our paths crossed many times over the years. I would 'test' ride some of the young TB's he started when we both were training out of an Arab farm near Litchfield. We also trained out of several other barns and one of my students used to gallop some of the TB's for his clients. I'm glad there was family with him to the end. He was a very special person.

Many great memories with mike. I don't remember a time when he wasn't around our house and the horses. He always had double mint gum to give my sister and I and I will always remember making him mad because I would try to take his hat when I was little. As of late he would always play with my kids and we enjoyed his company. He will be missed! My wife will miss their conversations about Catholicism and the interest he showed in our family.

I remember Sebastian being such a large part of our lives. He and my Dad, Bob Fisher had been friends since High School and he also worked for my Dad and in turn adopted all of my brothers and I. He always told us such funny stories. He would come out to swim and would end up swimming half of the lake. We were always afraid that he was going to be hit by a boat!! Our deepest sympathy to the whole Calderone Family. We will sincerely miss Sebastian.

Funny, talented, humble, kind and generous only begin to describe the man. He leaves big shoes for us to fill. To the one who always showed up, at what seemed like exactly the right time, out of nowhere, uncanny, like magic - RIP and Godspeed, my uncle, my brother.
