Selma Montes, 79, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. She was born on June 12, 1933 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was a resident of El Paso for 68 years. Selma was a dedicated volunteer at the Elks Lodge, sang in the church choir, and was a substitute teacher. She loved being with her family, dancing, singing, and painting. She is survived by her husband Ezequiel, her children Rosemary (Ric), Mary, Zeke (Sharon), Sandy (Bernie), and David (Marty), grandchildren Anna, Sara, Adam, Jacob, Luke, Cassidy, and Zane and brother Miguel Hidalgo, sister Gloria Rios, sister Minerva Grado, and brother Manuel Marrufo. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM, Sunday April 28, 2013 at Martin Central Funeral Home, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX, 79903. Funeral Mass will be held Monday April 29, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, 8700 Dyer, El Paso, TX. Mrs. Montes was always so sweet and loving to me . . . she was a joy to visit and I'll never forget her smiling eyes, great smile and wonderful hugs . . . Her spirit of fun, laughter and love will always live on in the beautiful family that she left on earth as she made her way to be with the Lord!
