SHLAES, SEYMORE

Seymour Shlaes, age 91, after a short illness. He was a published poet, cabinetmaker and copy desk editor for the Wall Street Journal. Born in Chicago Illinois in 1920 he was the son of the late Sam and Sarah Shlaes, brother of Ben Shlaes and the late Barry Shlaes. Seymore Attended Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill, graduated MA Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. Husband of the late Edythe Rose Shlaes (Nee Falk) and the late Margie Gilbert,(nee Ginsberg); survived by son, Evan (Terri) Shlaes, daughter, Loren Shlaes; step-children, Joan (Will) Guilianelli, Jerry (Pam) Gilbert and Diane Shapiro and long time companion Dorothy Pielet. Services were held Friday, November 4, 2pm at Weinstein Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL. 847-256-5700, www.weinsteinfuneralhomes.com.
