Jager, Shannon Emilie (Bossert)
Shannon Emilie Jager, 42, passed away January 6th, 2018, at Suncoast Hospice.
Shannon was born June 11th, 1975 in St. Petersburg, FL and was a life-long resident of the city. She was a graduate of Boca Ciega High School, received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education at FSU, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from USF. Shannon devoted her life to serving others as a nonprofit professional at Academy Prep Center for Education, All Children's Hospital, the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, and AMI Kids. She has left an indelible mark on the community she loved so much.
Shannon loved the feeling of the sun on her shoulders, the sight of dancers in movement, and spending time with her family and friends. She believed in kindness above all things, and her spirit of giving touched all who knew her. Above all, she was a loving mother.
Shannon is survived by her husband, Brian Overcast; daughters Molly Jager, Reilly Overcast, and Maeve Overcast; her father, Robert Bossert, and mother, Kathleen Jewell Bossert; and her brother, Rob Bossert. Services will be held at Pasadena Community Church in St. Petersburg on January 20 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AMI Kids, 5915 Benjamin Center Drive, Tampa, FL 33634, or any of the aforementioned nonprofit organizations she served.

In tribute to Shannon...
I can truly say she was a huge bright spot in my childhood. She was just so beautiful in every way. It's shocking looking back to realize just how special she was. And how Kathy and Bob did just such an incredible job in raising her. It sincerely blows me away. [Tears]
It comes with shock and bewilderment that I am sitting here today writing this. I'm just so sad. I wish I could do something to make this better, for all...because I just feel so tore up inside.
You always think there is more time to catch up. This is a pretty harsh lesson for me.
Blessings to the Bosserts and all the family she created that I haven't had the honor of meeting. I feel for you all, considering how I am taking this. I can't even imagine what it is like for you all.
I am...just soooo sorry.

Kathy and Bobby,
There are no words that come to me to truly comfort you at this time of your beautiful daughter's passing. I hope that there is some meaning from an old friend reaching out across the years and the miles to tell you that I share your loss by sending love and prayers to you and the entire family. I'm certain from seeing her eyes in the photo posted and after reading about her that Shannon inherited the very best from both of you two, my dear friends from over fifty years past.
Honor her by remembering all of the good that she was and did; cherish your fond memories.
Sending heartfelt condolences to the entire family,
Susan (Sanford) Lee

Hello Bob and Kathleen, it was never meant to be that we say goodbye to one of our children before we are gone. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but whatever he has chosen for Shannon is something you can be proud of at this difficult time. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and we take pleasure in having the privilege of knowing her for many years. Although Kathy and I have not seen her for quite some time, we always remember her as a genuine person who put others first. We remember the high school days with Shannon and our sons Bryan/Keith, Jason Lee, Marc Venuti and the rest of the gang. Rest assured our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.

So very sorry to hear this sad news. Shannon was a beautiful lady inside and out. I loved being the 'lungs' in her 'skin' it's What's So Good About Feeling Bad and will never forget the first time I heard her present and speak about Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, what an amazing compassionate presentation it was. She will be missed in this community immensely. Hugs to Bran and the family she left behind. She is gone, but will never be forgotten.
