Sharon Rochelle Chess 1937-2012 Sharon Chess was born August 7, 1937 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was a patient wife, mother of six, grandmother of nine, teacher and great-grandmother of one. Sharon passed to life eternal on July 5, 2012, while hospitalized and under hospice care at St. Marks Medical Center in LaGrange, Texas. 1937-2012

Sharon Chess was born August 7, 1937 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was a patient wife, mother of six, grandmother of nine, teacher and great-grandmother of one. Sharon passed to life eternal on July 5, 2012, while hospitalized and under hospice care at St. Marks Medical Center in LaGrange, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her son, Florian Frederick; mother,Lillian; father, Wayne; grandfather, Alvie; and great "grandma", Criss.

Sharon is survived by her husband Bill of Smithville; three daughters, Elizabeth Anne of Portland, Oregon; Mary Michelle of Houston; Laura Kim-Angel of Bastrop; two sons, William Kevin of Port St. Lucie, Florida; Timothy Bret of Palm City, Florida; nine grandchildren, Erin of Vancouver, WA; Teresa of San Francisco; Jason of Austin; Timothy of Ewa Beach, HI; Andrew of Annapolis, MD; Caitlin of Melbourne, FL; Ellie of Palm City, FL; Auburn and Alexandra of Bastrop; great-grandson, William Florian of Ewa Beach, HI; half-brothers, Rodger of Birdseye, IN; Timothy of Stockton, CA; Sean of Las Vegas, NV; half-sister, Maureen of Jacksonville, AL; aunts, Norma of Valparaiso, IN; Billie of Napa, CA; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Sharon graduated from Valparaiso (Indiana) High School and Pan American University at Edinburg (Texas) with a Bachelor's in Education in 1984. She then earned undergraduate credits at Bowie State College (University of Maryland, Bowie, MD) and graduate credits at Texas State University (San Marcos, TX). Sharon supervised preschools at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa and Edinburg, Texas. She taught kindergarten for Edinburg ISD; kindergarten, first and second grade at Emile Elementary for Bastrop ISD, and worked as the language arts facilitator for more than 16 years until her retirement from Bastrop ISD in 2006. After retirement, Sharon continued educating by chairing the Christian Education Program, conducting Sunday Children's Sermons and Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist Church in Smithville, TX.

A Celebration of Life service was held at the First United Methodist Church in Smithville on Saturday, July 7, 2012.
The family sincerely appreciates all the expressions of admiration and gratitude for Sharon's services by her friends, former colleagues and students.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations to the Sharon Chess Memorial Education Fund can be mailed or taken to the First United Methodist Church at 400 Olive Street, Smithville, Texas 78957.
