Sherri A. Vaillancourt, 55, of Westmoreland, died Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2013, at the Cheshire Medical Center – Dartmouth Hitchcock, following a sudden illness.

She was born on February 7, 1958, in Bellows Falls, VT, to Duke P. and Sheila R. (Barry) Vaillancourt. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a 1976 graduate of Fall Mountain Regional High School, and also studied at Keene state College.

While still in high school, she began her career with the Cedarcrest Center for Children with Disabilities, while it was still in Westmoreland. She worked there for over 37 years, most recently as a Licensed Nursing Assistant.

Sherri loved to travel, to go camping, and socializing with friends. She was an avid bird lover. Other interests included cooking, reading, and gardening. Halloween was her favorite time of year. She enjoyed caring for her home, and her dog and two cats. She was completely devoted to Cedarcrest, and the children in her care over the years of her employment.

She had a great sense of satisfaction in feeling helpful and needed by those around her.

She is survived by her parents: Duke P. and Sheila R. Vaillancourt of Walpole; her sisters: Donna Gage and her husband Verne of Gilsum and Leslie Vaillancourt of Westmoreland as well as her nieces and nephews: Andrew Gage of Surry, Jeannine Lucius and her husband Timothy of Surry and Christopher Gage and his wife Charissa of Swanzey.

A Celebration of Sherri's Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday at the Fletcher Funeral Home. There will be no public calling hours.
