Shirley met and married the love of her life, Mr. Doyle Knight, at a very young age. She spent the early part of their marriage supporting Doyle during his military service while raising her three wonderful children. Together, Shirley and Doyle created a beautiful life together full of countless memories and unwavering love. The two most important things to in her life were her faith in God and family. Shirley could easily be described as the rock of her family and
'The World's Greatest Nana'. Her children and grandchildren were the highlight of her life and she never failed to make them aware of how much they were loved. For many years, Mrs. Shirley was a dedicated member of Greers Chapel Baptist Church in Kennesaw, Georgia. Some of her favorite things were listening and singing southern gospel music, working in her flower gardens, and cooking the best meatloaf around. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend; she will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents Shirley is preceded in death by her sister, Martha Knight.
Mrs. Shirley is survived by her dedicated husband, Doyle Knight; three children, Sharon Hayes, husband Rick, of Acworth, GA, Tim Knight, wife Donna, of Tucson, AZ., and Rita Pauly of Tucson, AZ; two siblings, Larry Knight and Peggy Kesterson; seven grandchildren, Brian Hayes, Anita Bratton, Kimi Holmes, Tim Knight Jr., Brock Knight, Ashley Pauly, and Christopher Pauly; six great-grandchildren, Madi Smith, Scarlett Knight, Brooks Bratton, Ryan Holmes, Hudson Bratton, and Kinsley Bratton; a very special friend Dale Tatum; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Shirley Knight will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, June 16, 2017 in the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Therrell and Rev. David Huggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Greers Chapel Cemetery in Kennesaw.
A visitation with the family will take place from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
