Shirley Short Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 26, 2015.

Mrs. Shirley Diane Short was born November 10, 1951 to Mr. Ira Leon Evans and Mrs. Jessie Evan. She married her best friend in March of 1968. She devoted her life to taking care of her three daughters, husband, grandkids and anyone else she met. Diane loved everyone and always put others ahead of herself. She babysat most her life and raised other people's children as her own. Later in life she gave her life over to the lord and became baptized in the Freewill Baptist faith. A few years later she became a Pastor's wife. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and never lost faith. She was a friend to many and will be truly missed.
Mrs. Short was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Susie Gross and Peggy Mutchock, and her nephew, Donald Leon "Lee" Williams.
She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Dallas Short, daughters, Tammy Holt (Andy), of Ellerslie, GA, Christy Craigen (Joey) of Columbus, GA and Lisa Armour (Mike) of Box Springs, GA, her sister, Kay Evans (Anna) of Box Springs, GA, her grandchildren, Jessica Holt, Samantha Holt, Joseph Craigen, Dakota Craigen, Michael Armour and one great grandchild, Evan Holt.
In the words of Diane, God is always with us. He loves us and will never leave us.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at New Beginnings Freewill Baptist Church in Oakland, GA with Reverend Terry Tribble officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 Pm until 7:00 PM in the Wynnton Room at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907.
