To All of my Trost Family: I so regret being unable to come up for Ma's service. Yes, I know she was 'Ma' to everyone, but she made it special for me when she started sending Christmas cards the year that Muriel and Tom both died. It is not easy to truly capture all the love and kindness that she was, and put it into words.... I will be forever grateful to her for showing love to me even as a child, and how she trusted me to 'co-anchor' the ship with Tommy on nights she went out with the gang or had to work. The situation being what it was, to me as a teen, learning my lineage, I was completely mystified that she could always have put all that aside and treat me with care and respect. That continued all of our years together. Extended it to my daughter and her family, to my live-in and anyone else I brought up there. Shirley was the type who gave of herself so much, I wondered how she ever got enough love back. But I learned that You Guys all did a super job of it. I love you all and will miss her presence in our lives. Thank you for sharing your precious Mom with me.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Your mom was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed. We have lots of memories of her and the gang at the Falling Rock and sitting around the kitchen table at Carole and Gaylord's.

What a wonderful funny woman she was. She was always sharing, inviting me to dinner or sitting next to her at R&R Resort. One time I bought a brand new pair of high-top shoes, I just loved them. We went outside with our beverages to sneak a smoke (she had quit but puffed once or twice on mine) when she looked at my feet and said "What an ugly pair of shoes". I laughed because that was Shirley. We often laughed about that. I'll miss her.

To all the "Trost" kids that Larry, Tim & knew at the Falling Rock... I am so very sorry for the loss of your mom! Just like all the moms at the Rock, she was like a mom to all of us kids at the time, yet I haven't seen her in sooo many years! I see that my mom, Carol (now Keenan, then Taylor) has already signed the guest book including herself with all of us kids & our spouses, but I wanted to extend my own condolences & say that I'm truly sorry I can't be there to help you through this painful time. Try to remember all the things that made you smile about your mom to help ease this time & count on each other when you're having a really hard time dealing with her passing! Many hugs to you all~
All my love & God Bless...
