Shirley Jean Lovinggood, age 78, of Willis, Texas, passed away December 31, 2017. She was born in Ogallala, Nebraska, on November 23, 1939. She graduated from Sterling High School, Sterling, Colorado, in 1957 and received an associate's degree from Brazosport Community College, Lake Jackson, Texas. She fell in love with James Vernon Lovinggood while in high school. They were married on June 7, 1959.
Shirley dedicated her life to her family, always putting their needs in front of hers. She loved family outings and gatherings, throwing her full support into making them successful. Although family was first, she was an active organizer and participant in her Point Aquarius neighborhood activities. She had a quick smile and a delightful personality, making everyone she met feel special. Having graduates from both the University of Texas and Texas A&M, she was an avid supporter of both teams, as well as the Houston professional teams. Her dogs, Priss and Chip, were very special to her. If you wanted to get a rise out of her just say something negative about her dogs. Her special interests were traveling, crocheting/knitting, gardening, fishing and, of course, grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James (J.V.); sons, Brad Lovinggood and wife Lisa K. of Waco, Texas; Troy Lovinggood and wife Lisa M. of Canyon Lake, Texas; and Kevin Lovinggood of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle, Dawson, Devin, Jon, Angela and Emily; sister, Beverly Wilcox and husband John of Columbia, Missouri. She was preceded in death by brother, Larry Hamler of McPherson, Kansas; adoptive parents, John and Sarah Rohwedder, of Sterling, Colorado; and sister Thelma and husband Harold Kane of Omaha, Nebraska.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6, at 11:00 a.m. at First Methodist Conroe, where she was an active member, with interment immediately following at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. I am truly sorry for the family's loss. I knew Shirley for many years and she was a kind, loving woman who cherished her family. Prayers go out to all of her family and loved ones.

Shirley was the best definition of "neighbor", but other descriptive words like "funny", "sweet" and "tenacious" also come to mind. I'm sure she was the glue who held her family together - just as she was in our neighborhood - and her loss will be keenly felt by all.

Sure he was such a happy smiling woman going about her day with two dogs nipping at her Hills. That's the picture Phil and I would see at our back windows on most mornings. We actually met Shirley with another neighbor coming to our house to see if we would host the Christmas party for section 5 she did this for many years sometimes I would feel like hiding because I didn't want to say no to her. She did this for many years sometimes I would feel like hiding because I didn't want to say no to her. She arranged so many social events for our section that it made it very close for many years they are memories we have forever. We love you Jim and Shirley will be with us for a long time blessings to your family.

We will really miss Shirley. It was not too long ago we were in a bridge group with Shirley and Jim. She got so excited when she finished in first place, which was often. She was a very good player. Her smile and good nature will be remembered.
