Shirley A. (Collins) Barboza, age 57 of Fall River, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Charles Barboza to whom she had been married for 38 years.
Born in Newport, RI, the daughter of the late William J. Collins Sr. and Anne Marie (Sullivan) Collins, she was a graduate of the former Sacred Hearts Academy in Fall River. Mrs. Barboza has been employed as a Sales Associate with Home Depot for the past seven years.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters Christie-Lynn Farias of Boston and Melissa Anikieva and her husband Paveo of Lakeland, FL; two grandchildren Marissa and Joshua Farias; six brother s and sisters Patricia Collins-Guilmette of Harrisburg, PA, William J. Collins Jr., of Marrietta, GA, Margaret M. Collins of So. Dartmouth, Joseph M. Collins of Marrietta, GA, Anne M. Collins of Fall River and Elizabeth V. Long of Rumford, RI and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late James J. Collins.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by her funeral mass at 10am in Notre Dame Church 529 Eastern Ave., Fall River. I will be forever moved and inspired by just how many people were touch by my sister. I was overwhelmed by the genuine sorrow suffered by those who knew her. Shirley was one of the best people I had the priviledge to know. No one can beat her kindness and generosity and wonderful humor.
