Shirley "Jean" Davis May 8, 1922 – August 12, 2013 Jean was born May 8, 1922 to Everett and Hazel Wilson in Bristow, OK. She spent her childhood in Oklahoma and Arizona before moving with her family to Ivanhoe, California in 1937. Jean remained in Ivanhoe until 1992 when she moved to Visalia. Jean met Alvie D. Davis shortly after moving to Ivanhoe and they married in1940. They were blessed with two children and raised them on the family farm just outside of Ivanhoe. Jean was born May 8, 1922 to Everett and Hazel Wilson in Bristow, OK. She spent her childhood in Oklahoma and Arizona before moving with her family to Ivanhoe, California in 1937. Jean remained in Ivanhoe until 1992 when she moved to Visalia.
Jean met Alvie D. Davis shortly after moving to Ivanhoe and they married in1940. They were blessed with two children and raised them on the family farm just outside of Ivanhoe. When the children became teenagers, Jean went to work for Anita's Dress Shop and soon became the store manager. She stayed with Anita's for many years and left shortly before the company closed the stores. After staying home for a short while she went to work for The Utopian Hawaiian Apparel and remained there until she retired in 1985.
Jean was active with the Tulare County Sheriff's Posse, the Cowboy Poetry Club, the Women of the Moose, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Hazel Wilson; infant sister, Virginia Wilson; brother and sister-in-law, Roger (Frieda) Wilson; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice (Ethel) Wilson; and her loving husband of 51 years, Alvie D. Davis.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Alice Carol (Gerald) Thompson of Rogersville, MO; her daughter, Jeanette Webb; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne (Karen) Davis; grandchildren, Kelly (Martin) Jung, Stacy (Rod) Jared, Brian (Katie) Davis and Kirk (Melissa) Davis; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, all of Visalia.
Jean will be remembered by family and friends, all of whom had the pleasure of knowing her as a caring, warm, and giving persons. She was , A Grand Lady, in all sense of the word. She loved her family fiercely and her friends were no exception. Jean had many life-long friends whom she looked upon as family ad they supported each other in the good times and the bad, they were her extended family. She will be deeply missed by both her family and all of her friends.
The family wished to thank the staff of Linwood Meadows for their loving care and compassion of Jean in her final days.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA.
