Shirley J. Klassen, 83, of Twin Falls, passed away Monday, August 4th, 2014 peacefully in her
sleep.
Shirley was born to Mary Elizabeth and Clayton Goodyear on April 21, 1931. She, along with her 4
sisters and one brother were raised here in Twin Falls. Unfortunately at the age of 5 she lost her
father to pneumonia, but was fortunate enough to be raised by a very good man, Pete Landholm
who took on the responsibility of raising 5 children not his own. Shirley went to TFHS and
graduated in 1949. She loved to dance as a young girl.
In 1957 she met L.E. "Tiny" Klassen, they were married and in 1958 were blessed with a son
(Cole). The next year a daughter (Erin) was born. Shirley started work at the Paris Co. clothing store around 1966 and worked there for 24 years.
In 1968, another son was born (Kerry), and Shirley continued to work though, all the way until she was 80. With the closure of Banner Furniture came her dreaded day of retirement. Shirley was an extremely hard worker, excellent mother and the best baker around.
She is survived by daughter Erin Harkins (Larry Harkins), son Kerry Klassen; sister Gloria Morrow
and her three grandkids whom she loved dearly, Cole (Barham), Taylor (Shane Noble) and Kaitlyn (Klassen) were one of her great joys. Shirley was preceded in death by husband Tiny, son Cole, her mother and father, and nephews Mark Morrow, Devan Landholm and Clayton Martin. Also preceding her were three sisters, Collen Martin, "Pat" Giesler, Audrey Price and her brother Pete Landholm.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Twin Falls Golf Club. "Tee" time is 2:00. Arrangements are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel, Twin Falls.
