Shirley Jean Ramey Miller passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at home with her family at her side. Shirley was born in Kingsport, Tennessee a daughter of the late Virgil Lee and Bertha Hattie Ramey. She was employed with Brock Services and was a member of New Life Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James Perry Miller, Jr., grandson Gabriel Houston Miller, sister Oma Miller, brother Roy Ramey and two baby sisters. Shirley Jean Ramey Miller passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at home with her family at her side. Shirley was born in Kingsport, Tennessee a daughter of the late Virgil Lee and Bertha Hattie Ramey. She was employed with Brock Services and was a member of New Life Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James Perry Miller, Jr., grandson Gabriel Houston Miller, sister Oma Miller, brother Roy Ramey and two baby sisters. Surviving are her Son, Robert "Bobby" Miller, Daughter, Sherry Sawyer and husband Steven, Grandchildren; Brittany Miller, Ashley and Megan Ward, Robert Jacob Miller, Cierra Davidson, Destiney Sawyer and Desiree Sawyer. Brothers: Marion Ramey, George Ramey, Dewey Ramey. Sisters: Mary Cochran and Sue Hickman. Brother-in-law, Jack Miller. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the New Life Freewill Baptist Church, 2444 Rock Springs Road, Kingsport. Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. at the church with Pastor Hal Calhoun, Reverend Gary Calhoun and Mike Calhoun officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. from the East Lawn Memorial Park. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
