"Sully" Shirley M. Sullivan was born in Shidler, Oklahoma on May 26, 1925 and completed his high school education in Webb City, Oklahoma. In May 1942, Sully entered the armed forces as Machinist Third Class with the 14th Seabees, U.S. Navy, and was sent to the South Pacific War Zone where he served until discharged in 1946. Sully primarily worked construction most of his working lifetime. He was sent to Venezuela for 5 years by his first employer, Chicago Bridge and Iron. He later worked with NASA in Titusville, Florida on the Moon Landing Project. Sully retired in 1990 from Korseahell Engineering Co. Sully was married to Peggy Hendricks, a resident of Cherokee, Oklahoma and had two daughters. The first child came prematurely and due to lack of medical facilities passed away. After the second daughter Valerie was born, Sully and his wife separated and he took the daughter to raise. Unfortunately the daughter passed away at 50 years of age. In 1990 Sully, his best friend and loving companion Mary Ann Jones, began living together until her death, December 11, 2011. Mary Ann was under hospice care here in Epworth Villa when she passed away. Sully's church affiliation is Methodist. His interests are in metal art, tennis and golf. Sully moved into Epworth Villa on May 29, 2013 and passed away there on January 20, 2017. He is survived by his brother; Don Sullivan and his wife and children of Los Angeles, California, sister-in-law; Vivian "Midge" Sullivan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Mary Ann's daughter Carolyn and family of Edmond, Oklahoma.

The Hatchett family sends thoughts and prayers to the Sullivan family at their time of loss. What I will remember about Shirley is his kindness to me, the ever present smile on his face, and the enjoyable visits we had.
