Sol Blumenthal Obituary

Sol Blumenthal, 88, of Atlanta, GA passed away on February 21, 2013. He was the son of the late Theodore Blumenthal and Lena Talan Blumenthal and brother to the late Dr. Irvin Blumenthal, identical twin David Blumenthal, and sister Joyce B. Gilbert-Barnett. He grew up in Royston, GA helping his father in the family’s dry good business. Sol fought bravely for his country during World War II where he served as a combat infantryman fighting in the campaigns in New Guinea and Luzon where he was wounded in both legs. He was awarded the Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars and the Silver Star for valor. After the war, Sol returned to Royston to take over the family’s dry goods store and soon after he made the move to Atlanta to join his twin brother in the interior design business, David Inc. where he practiced the art of designing fine interiors for over 40 years. He is survived by nieces Dr. Lisa Blue-Baron, and Jodi Cobb, nephews Dr. Richard Blue, Dr. James Blue, and John Blue, as well as his beloved cat Kitty. Funeral service to be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE  Atlanta, GA 30319. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution in his memory to your favorite charity.

I was sad to hear of Sol's passing.

My favorite memory, as a little girl; David & Sol always decorated my parents home and sometimes David & Sol would disagree on the out come and have a loud discussion. I was thought of David & Sol as funny, they would come in the house and immediately talk to me first (such an honor for a for a child).
