Obituary

Sophie Pelletier Beauregard, of New Bedford, age 91, passed away on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012, one week after her 91st birthday – a crowning reward to her life as she was especially devoted to our Blessed Mother. She was under the care of her daughter, with whom she resided for many years and Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Florida. She was the wife of the late Conrad A. Pelletier for 48 years and the late Emile J. Beauregard for approximately 15 years. Sophie Pelletier Beauregard, of New Bedford, age 91, passed away on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012, one week after her 91st birthday – a crowning reward to her life as she was especially devoted to our Blessed Mother. She was under the care of her daughter, with whom she resided for many years and Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Florida. She was the wife of the late Conrad A. Pelletier for 48 years and the late Emile J. Beauregard for approximately 15 years. A daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Szymkowicz) Smusz, she was born and raised in Venice, and lived most of her life in New Bedford.

A graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1973 with honors, she was extremely proud of this accomplishment. She and her late husband Conrad were the former co-owner of Baylies Square Paint & Wallpaper.

Mrs. Pelletier Beauregard was a member of the Greater New Bedford Garden Club and a former communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Passionate about helping those in need, she raised funds for local food pantries and the Salvation Army by making and selling Chocolate Lollipops. A World traveler, she was also an accomplished artist of many mediums, enjoyed playing cards, playing the slots, always enjoyed a good joke and funny card, and as she so aptly put it: "I have done everything that I have wanted to do in my life and have no regrets"!

Surviving: Daughter and caregivers Janet Foster and her husband Richard of Cape Cod and Florida, son Paul Pelletier and his wife Jeannette of Acushnet, her "family thru life" Kathleen & Frank Spinella of NC, grandchildren Jennifer Foster Stoner and Jeffrey Stoner of Cotuit, Christian and Patrizia Foster of San Antonio, TX, Linda Foster of Wareham, Christine and Rene Daniel of Acushnet, Nicole and Scott Perrine of SC, LeeAnn and Tony Maciel of Acushnet, James and Amy Pelletier of Freetown, Jeffrey and Katie Pelletier, Kyle and Grace Spinella of NC, great-grandchildren Nicholas Stoner of Cotuit, Sabrina Foster of San Antonio, TX, Robert and Scott Daniel of Acushnet, Olivia Maciel of Acushnet, Lauren and Austin Pelletier of Freetown, Sister Valerie Oberg and many nieces and nephews, Emile's daughter Pat Cyr her 3 children and 5 grandchildren, 2 childhood friends Natalie Boudreau and Josephine Pacheco,dear friends, Marilyn and Gene Gorey of Taunton, and Conrad and Muriel Levesque of Port Charlotte, FL. She was grandmother of the late Jonathan Foster and sister of the late John and Joseph Smusz, Mae Dube, Stella Bertrand and Vickie Dawson

Her Funeral will be held Wednesday June 13, 2012 at 11:00am in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford. Her family will greet friends from 9 – 11AM prior to her Service. Burial following at Pine Grove Cemetery.
