Stan Benson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 25, 2016.

Stanley Jay Benson, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2016 in Bakersfield, CA. Stan was born on September 9, 1961 in Twin Falls, ID.

Stan spent over 30 years in the Oilfields providing for his loved ones at home. The Oilfields became his second home and through the years he acquired a family of people he admired and trusted.

Stan had a passion for many things. He loved spending time with his family; he was fiercely proud of his grand-babies. Stan was an avid golfer spending his weekends playing in various tournaments or keeping updated on the pros with the Golf Channel. He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and was so excited with how well they were playing this year. As a passionate NASCAR fan he would cheer on Kevin Harvick both from his favorite recliner and numerous times live trackside with his wife.

Stan left behind his loving family. His wife and best friend of 29 years Shari, daughter Maycee Majors and husband Jon, son Jarrod Scott and wife Chelsie, daughter Katy Benson and fiancé Dillon Harrington, and daughters Dana Benson and Xoi Benson. Beloved Papa to Keeyan and Sutton Majors, Hallie Scott and Baby Sister due in March, and Hannah Harrington. He is also survived by his father Raymond Benson, mother Linda Yeary, sister Debbie Hinds and husband Randy, brother Steve Benson and wife Julie, as well as an abundance of loving extended family members.

Stan is preceded in death by step father Noel Yeary, step mother Betty Harwell, and brother in law Ron Keesling Jr.

The family of Stan Benson would like to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation for the overwhelming support and love that we have been shown since his passing.

I will always remember Stan's smirky smile, his jokes and how he loved to ruffle Shari's feathers. Her feathers were never ruffled by him, she just laughed right back at him. They were so fun to watch! I dont think I ever seen him mad or without a smile on his face. I will forever remember the old days and all the crazy things we did. Stan really turned into a fantastic husband and father that worked hard for his family. I love you brother and you will be so missed.

I will always remember Stan smiling with a beer in his hand and his laughter as he teased you and the kids. That man did love his family!

The first time I met Stan, he asked if I wanted a beer. I said, no thank you. Stan laughed and said this's okay, just leaves more for me!
I loved his smile and the twinkle in his eye.

I always admired Stan for his work ethics. I never knew him without a job! Some of my fondest memories living on Sherman Peak Drive was having Stan and Shari as neighbors! They became apart of my life forever! I will always be grateful for Stan trying to help Cotton, by providing him a job when he was out of work! Stan's attempt was out of the kindness of his heart! Stan will be missed! I know Stan loved his family, each one of you. Stan and Shari's love was unstoppable! To all of Stan's family just hold his memories close to your hearts!!! I love you all

I spent a lot of time around Stan when we were young. He is my cousin by marriage, and he was a great guy. Always seemed happy. As life often takes people in different directions, Stan and I did not see each other much at all. Years later he married a friend of mine (Shari, I didnt even know they knew each other) and it was great to see him again from time to time. He left an impact of happiness that will not be forgotten. My heart goes out to his loving family. RIP Stan, till we all meet again. Give my mom a big hug and a kiss for me.

If a man were to know that this days business end ere had come, but suffices to know that the day will end and the end be known, when we meet again, we will smile, and if not, this parting was well made. This world is a lesser place without you Stan, but I take comfort in the fact that we will meet again for some Coors and polish horse shoes. Until that time I will enjoy every good memory, because I can honestly say there were only good times with you.

I will always be forever grateful for the blessing of having you as not only my Father In Law, but as a mentor. I truly look up to you, respect you, and love you, as so many people do. You left a lasting impression on this earth with everyone who had the privilege of meeting you. Keeyan is gonna miss his biggest fan, but Maycee and I told him that you will be right there with him evrytime he swings his leg over the bike. We miss you a lot down here. I hope that the greens are perfect, the iron game is strong, and the beer is cold up there. Rest In Peace Papa

Shari Benson

To my Hubby,
On the saddest day of my life, at 7:36pm on Monday, November 21,2016 a part of me died with you. My life forever changed. I have loved you for over half my life, and I will love you for eternity. I have trouble breathing without you. I was not ready to let you go. I so wanted to go with you. Thank you for loving me, and giving me our children to help me through this so called life without you. You would be so proud of them, and the people they have become. You did good. Our grandbabies are already missing you. Your grandson is taking the responsibility to help me tell all the little girls about you because they're too young to remember by themselves. Sutton and Hannah both were looking for their Papa. Hallie will tell her new sister all about you. Your presence is still here. Look after us baby, we are lost without you. Until we are together again, all my love
