My sincerest condolences to Stan's family. I served with him onboard the USS Marvin Shields, although not in a department/division under his direct leadership - the navigation team worked in conjunction with his department. In my dealings with him, he seemed to be a very light hearted man who knew when to take the job seriously and knew when it was just another hurdle that the crew needed to overcome and try to take it personally. He's one of the few officers I can still hear speak as if he was in the same room.

Karen,
I'm glad we were able to talk last night. You are incredibly strong and that strength will carry you through these difficult times. I am sorry I'm not with you today, but I am in spirit. There are no words that will comfort you, just know that you and Stan were a blessing for each other and Stan will be your Christmas Angel, lighting the spirit of Christmas for you from now on.
Love, Debbie
