Stanley Dee Melton was born May 27, 1941 to Alex and Margaret Melton. He was the
oldest brother to Joanna, Becky, Char, and Rich. He began school at Lucerne country
school in 1948 and attended various schools throughout the Magic Valley until
graduating from Filer High School in 1959 where he excelled in golf and junior rifle club
winning various awards and trophies.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 1960 and was assigned to a civil
engineering squadron at Travis Air Force Base California. He was honorably discharged in January, 1964. He loved his country and was very proud of his service. While in the service, he married Helen Jean Patterson his high school sweetheart on September 10, 1961. This union was blessed with three boys: Scotty, Kevin, and Ed.

Stan was a member of the Filer Baptist Church, Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post 47 and Twin Falls Gun Club. He also taught hunter safety for Idaho Fish and Game for many
years and certified over 400 young hunters. He was active in Boy Scout Troop73 and
Cub Scouts. He loved fishing, trapshooting, and hunting.

He did various jobs throughout his life. He worked at Twin Falls Tractor as a mechanic
and a shop foreman. He went on to farm his own 160 acre place northwest of Filer. In
1987, he left production farming, they moved to Jerome, and he became a truck driver.
He drove a total of 3.5 million accident-free miles before retiring in 2006. During these
years, he maintained a beautiful yard and garden. He shared much of his produce with
the Jerome Senior Center and his neighbors.

He suffered an abdominal aneurysm in May 2011 and his health slowly deteriorated. Stan
and Helen moved to Woodstone Assisted Living in June 2011. They were blessed that
summer to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Stan passed away January 30, 2014 at Oak Creek Rehabilitation Center in Kimberly,
Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Helen Jean, son, Kevin (Martha) and grandchildren, Kristopher and Dustie (Casey Ridley), mother Margaret and siblings, Joanna Eastwood, Becky (Ralph) Taylor, Char (Alex) Sinclair and Rich Melton.
