Stanley Louis Silberg
December 27, 1927 – February 27, 2013


Stan was born December 27, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to Max and Etta Silberg. He joined the Army medical corp in 1947 for 2 years and attended and graduated from Kansas University with Masters of Arts in Bacteriology. He attended the University of Minnesota where he earned Masters of Public Health and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology. He taught at the University of Missouri and was asked to join the newly formed School of Health at OU as an Epidemiologist in 1969. Stan retired from the Biostatistics and Epidemiology department in 1994 as a Professor Emeritus, an honor he cherished.

Stan married the love of his life, Irene, 8-05-56. He loved his wife Irene, dearly. She was his life. He was an active member at Emanuel Synagogue, loved teaching his students, tennis, working in the yard, enjoyed Greek mythology, OU football and his family.

Stan is survived by his wife, Irene, of 56 years, son, Craig of Tulsa, daughter-in-law Mindy, granddaughters Erika, Isabella, Rosalie, and Natalie and Lindsay Tippens, Dallas, son Steve and daughter-in-law Beverly, grand dogs, Snuffy and Cooper, as well and many family and friends.

Stan suffered a long fight with Alzheimer's disease and accepted it with grace and no complaints with Irene by his side, as is sole caregiver.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2123 N. Classen Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73106 or Emanuel Synagogue. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 1 at Emanuel synagogue, 10:30 am, with a graveside service to follow. 900 N.W. 47th Street, Oklahoma City.
