Obituary

Stephanie Snavely, 69, died at home on Thursday, April 10, 2014 after a two and a half year battle with cancer. She was born January 16, 1945 in Tampa, FL the daughter of the late Fred F. Sears and Marguerite Kreher Sears. Following a private internment at Parkhill Cemetery, memorial services will be held in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Macon Road at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 12. Reverend Dr. P. Shane Green officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home. Stephanie Snavely, 69, died at home on Thursday, April 10, 2014 after a two and a half year battle with cancer. She was born January 16, 1945 in Tampa, FL the daughter of the late Fred F. Sears and Marguerite Kreher Sears. Stephanie grew up in Tampa, FL, went to high school at Fairfax Hall, Waynesboro, VA and was graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia at the age of 20.. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and Chi Omega sorority.
She retired from Synovus Data Corp after 22 years as a computer programmer/manager. She was a former member of the boards of the YMCA, the Stewart Community Home and the Springer Opera House, She was a member of the Junior League, Della Robia Garden Club, The Women's Reading Club, the Green Island Country Club and the Big Eddy Club.
After retirement she was active with her favorite tennis bunch and until she got sick, enjoyed bicycling and skiing. She loved travel and took her family on a Disney Cruise last November. She was a crossword puzzle fan and always worked them with a pen. Lately she has spent a lot of time on her phone playing word games. Her favorite rule was " Don't call during Jeopardy unless you are bleeding or in an ambulance."
She is survived by her husband, Dan McNeill Snavely, her daughter Marguerite(Maggie) Huff Dimino and husband Steve of Marietta, GA , her son William(Will) Cooke Huff, Jr. and wife Claire Marie of Atlanta, GA, her brother Stephen Hamilton Sears and wife Marty of Tampa, FL her stepsons Dan M. Snavely, Jr. of Columbus and William C.(Chris) Snavely and wife Yancey of Atlanta, her grandchildren Louis Dimino, Cecilia Dimino, William Huff III, Mary Claire Huff, Helen Snavely, Katherine Snavely, Mac Snavely, Brant Snavely, Tate Snavely, Madeline Grainger and Garrett Grainger. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sherry S. Abernethy and husband Fred of Banner Elk, NC.
Stephanie requests that memorials be made to St. Paul Methodist Church, 1620 Wildwood Ave, Columbus, GA, Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA or your favorite charity.
